Police found a husband and wife dead in their home early Friday morning in what police believe was a homicide-suicide, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said.
Thetford Township Police Department were called to the home on E. Lake road near Center Road to perform a welfare check at the request of the couple's 30-year-old son, Leyton said.
"He hadn't been able to reach his mom for two days," Leyton said.
Police found the woman, 52-year-old Jean Young, dead with gunshot wounds in the garage of the home, Leyton said.
The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team was then called, and once inside the residence, the body of 53-year-old Richard Young was found, also with gunshot wounds, Leyton said.
Police believe the case to have been a murder-suicide.
