#DomesticViolence: John Wrighty - Your Story…..Told!

John's guest post this week is from Nick, another sad harrowing emotional roller coaster nerve wracking tale of violence and abuse. Nick jerked around like a puppet on a string with no way out. You can almost reach out and feel the raw pain as he opened his heart in this very moving guest spot. Nick explains....

Our ongoing battle to be heard

by Nick (03/06/2012)

My story goes back to 2009. I came home to find my home empty. No idea where my partner and my babies had gone. My partner was violent, abusive, dishonest and I feared for my children. Over the next few days it became apparent she had been having an affair for the last year. She had been arrested for GBH and I had to drop the charges when her eldest daughter threatened me that I would never see my children again unless I did. They never followed up why. Months of verbal abuse, and threats and then she went. Four months later I finally get to see them. She had found her way to a refuge where she had said I was a terrible person. The refuge was just around the corner from her lover’s home. I found texts from her to him saying how she was “going to start an argument lol” and how she planned to say this and that and how she would get given a place and then he could move in. She contacted me just before the court case and told me where she was....read more

#DomesticViolence: For The Native American Woman Sexual Assault Is The 'Norm'

The official number is bad enough: One in three American Indian women have experienced rape or attempted rape, a rate more than twice the national average. But it gets worse: One survey finds that in some rural villages, the rate of sexual violence is as much as 12 times the national rate, and interviews by the New York Times found that sexual assault is so common that few, if any, Native American women living on tribal reservations escape it.

The Times article relays wrenching stories (the 19-year-old rape victim who never received a return phone call from tribal police), offers more heartbreaking statistics (just 10% of sex assaults on reservations are reported, and arrests are made in just 13% of those cases), and details the myriad problems contributing to the tragic situation: isolated villages; alcohol abuse and a breakdown of the family structure; a lack of sexual assault training.

And the issue is now causing contention in Washington, as Republicans and Democrats wrestle over reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act: The Senate wants to give tribal courts more power to prosecute non-Indians in sex assaults, but some Republicans disagree. newser.com

One in three American Indian women (34.1percent) experience rape in their lifetime as compared with 18 percent of white women and 19 percent of African American women. This may have something to do with the fact that Tribal Law Enforcement cannot arrest non-natives for crimes committed on reservations, or with high rates of alcohol use, or maybe a combination of these factors. healthline.com

The Native American Women's Health Education Resource Center reports that 44% of IHS hospitals do not have SANE-trained personnel, and in some places, there is only a medical professional available once a week. In addition, there is no support for the lifelong process required to recover from a sexual assault, which happens most often to young women. Community-based organizations, like the Rape Abuse & Incest national Network, can fill the gap for support, but once the forensic evidence is lost, it is too late for any chance of prosecution, leaving rapists at large. healthline.com

Interviews with Native American women in Emmonak and across the nation's tribal reservations suggest few, if any female relatives or close friends have escaped sexual violence. NY Times

No place, women's advocates say, is more dangerous than Alaska's isolated villages, where there are no roads in or out, and where people are further cut off by undependable telephone, electrical and Internet service. NY Times

In the Navajo Nation, which encompasses parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, 329 rape cases were reported in 2007 among a population of about 180,000. Five years later, there have been only 17 arrests. Women's advocates on the reservation say only about 10 percent of sexual assaults are reported. NY Times

#DomesticViolence : More LIES !!

John Wrighty in his latest blog post tells of his despair and frustration at the injustice of the British Family Court system and the small victims, his three children caught up in the middle of this eternal nightmare.

John explains...

I feel I have to interrupt  the telling of my story with a current update to my family court situation due to receiving another 5 pages of lies in the form of a witness statement from my Wife regarding my indirect contact with my children and her contact with the Cafcass worker. The interesting fact about the Family Court statement is that is is somewhat at odds to the criminal court statement. In effect, my wife is tailoring her evidence to fit the circumstances because she knows if she told the truth I would not be in the position I am now. As previously mentioned I spoke with the Cafcass worker about a month ago now and, before she met me, she had a meeting with my Wife in the morning to listen to her arguments (lies) about why I should not see my 3 kids. After telling her my side of things which took over two hours, the Cafcass worker mentioned to me that my Wife had alleged that my little girl was now very afraid of men because of what she had witnessed with me and her mother....read more

#DomesticViolence: The Investigation.

John Wrighty continues his story, a male victim of domestic violence.

Quote

After being bailed by Officers from Derbyshire Police I was at a very low point in my life so I went on the sick at work as the stress was making me ill. I took up the offer of counselling from Greater Manchester Police and my sessions were with the same person I had seen previously before the incident this did help me to some degree but I could not get away from the shame I was feeling at admitting I had suffered abuse and threats at the hands of my Wife. What were my family and friends thinking about me and also my colleagues the shame I was feeling was unbearable but I knew I had to fight on and prove my innocence? On the 5th of January 2010 I sent my solicitor a list of 12 people who had witnessed incidents and injuries on myself and also a family friend who my Wife had attacked some years earlier was also willing to give evidence on my behalf. This amounted to a total of 18 incidents where injuries had been noted on myself which were contained within the evidence from these 12 witnesses. That should help so you would think!!......read more

#DomesticViolence : Video - Abuse Through The Eyes Of A Child.

Once upon a time there was a girl
In her early years she had to learn

How to grow up living in a war that she called home
Never know just where to turn for shelter from the storm
Hurt me to see the pain across my mother's face
Every time my father's fist would put her in her place
Hearing all the yelling I would cry up in my room
Hoping it would be over soon

Bruises fade father, but the pain remains the same
And I still remember how you kept me so afraid
Strength is my mother for all the love she gave
Every morning that I wake I look back to yesterday

And I'm OK

#DomesticViolence :Abuse Against Men - Why Is So Little Documented ?

There are many reasons why we don't know more about domestic abuse and violence against men.  First of all, the incidence of domestic violence reported men appears to be so low that it is hard to get reliable estimates.  In addition, it has taken years of advocacy and support to encourage women to report domestic violence. Virtually nothing has been done to encourage men to report abuse.  The idea that men could be victims of domestic abuse and violence is so unthinkable that many men will not even attempt to report the situation.

The dynamic of domestic abuse and violence is also different between men and women.  The reasons, purposes and motivations are often very different between sexes.  Although the counseling and psychological community have responded to domestic abuse and violence against women, there has been very little investment in resources to address and understand the issues of domestic abuse and violence against men.  In most cases, the actual physical damage inflicted by men is so much greater than the actual physical harm inflected by women.  The impact of domestic violence is less apparent and less likely to come to the attention of others when men are abused.  For example, it is assumed than a man with a bruise or black eye was in a fight with another man or was injured on the job or playing contact sports.  Even when men do report domestic abuse and violence, most people are so astonished men usually end up feeling like nobody believes them.

#DomesticViolence : Katelyn Markham Is Missing - Listen To John Carter And His 911 Call - Somethings Not Right - Is Katelyn The Most Deadliest Victim Of Domestic Violence - Murder ?

Please remember that not only children are victims of faked abductions by their parents . Adults also play the same game, they kill their partner, hide their body then claim they are missing!

Please review the principles of analysis of 911 calls.

Guilty callers often begin with a greeting, focus upon themselves and even skip asking for help for the victim.

http://www.fox19.com/story/15295662/police-release-911-call-reporting-katelyn-markhams-disappearance?redirected=true

Please note that Statement Analysis and Commentary is in bold type.  You can listen here to it at the foxnews link.

John Carter: Hi, my name is John Carter, I am calling - I know that you're not supposed to report a missing person after - before 24 hours, but my fiancee is missing, I can't find her anywhere.

1.  "hi"   Please note the that call begins with a greeting.  Dr. Susan Adams, in her study of 911 calls of domestic homicide found that a call that begins with a greeting is more likely to be a guilty caller.  There were other aspects of her study including who the caller asks for help for:  himself, or the victim, for example. The guilty caller focuses upon his own self, rather than the victim, and may even disparage the victim.

2.  Please note that there is no use of her name indicating a problem in the relationship. He says "my fiance" without using her name.
911 Dispatcher: Okay, where'd you see her last?

J: Um, I saw her at like 12 o' clock last night. She stays in a house by herself, um, so, she - I'm just, I'm really nervous. Her car's still there, her purse is still -

The 911 operator should never interrupt.
Please note the phrase, "I'm really nervous"; not just "nervous" but "really" nervous.  This is a focus upon the caller himself, not the victim.  Innocent callers focus upon the victim and ask for help, specifically, for the victim.
D: Is there an address?

J: Yeah, 5214 Dorshire Drive.

D: 5214?

J: Dorshire, yes.

D: Okay. And you're out there now?

J: Um, I'm heading out there now, I, like, have been trying to get ahold of her and I decided to go by her house to see if she's okay, and her car's still there - she would be at work right now with her car. Which is why I'm like really freaking out.

1.  Note that the question, "you're there now?" is sensitive to John Carter who did not say "no", but avoiding answering it directly.
2.  He is only going to "go by her house" and reports being in transit, rather than simply stating he is going there.
3.  "to see" is the same as "because", indicating the need to tell why he is doing something rather than report what he is doing.
4.  "and her car's still there";  is he there now, and can see that her car is still there, or is he just "heading out there" now?
5.  "I'm like really freaking out" now uses two words to modify "freaking out", making it very sensitive.  This should question if he really is "freaking out".  Again, note focus upon himself and his wellbeing.

D: What's her name?

J: Katelyn Helene Markham.

D: Have you called the hospitals or jails or anything?

J: Um -

D: Where was she at midnight last night when you last saw her?

J: She was at her house. She was going to bed. She wasn't going out to do anything, so she would've been in her bed. And I mean, I've been with her for 6 years - she's not deceiving, you know, she doesn't -

What someone tells us in the negative is sensitive.  Here he has three things to tell us what she was not doing:  not going out "to do anything"; not deceiving, and doesn't, but stops himself or is interrupted.

D: Okay, and you guys didn't have an argument or anything?

J: Not at all.

"Not at all" is not the simple "no"

D: Okay. Is she on any medications or anything?

J: Not at all.

D: Has she had thoughts of suicide or anything like that?

J: No. Never. I... never.
Broken sentence means missing information.

D: All right. And have you talked to her mom or anybody like that, to see if maybe she's out shopping, or - ?

J: I called her father. The only thing that's not there is her cell phone, which is positive, but she's not answering it. So... and the Sacred Heart Festival is going on right up the street, and there's a lot of questionable people there, and it's just kind of. I'm sorry.
The question is answered, but then he goes beyond the question to talk about the Festival, casting suspicion towards those at it.
Note "I'm sorry" is often found in the language of the guilty, no matter what its usage is.  See Casey Anthony

D: Okay, well, we'll go ahead and have somebody meet you there. What kind of vehicle are you going to be in?

J: A 2008 Ford Docus. It's red.

D: Okay, we'll have somebody come out and speak with you, okay?

J: Okay, thank you.

D: Mmmhmm. Bye.

J: Okay. Bye.

Please note that he did not express concern for the victim.
Please note that he did not ask for help for the victim.
Please note that he went beyond the realm of the questions.
Please note the greeting, and the phrase, "I'm sorry"

There is enough in this call, by itself, to be concerned that he may be responsible for her disappearance.

#DomesticViolence : The ARREST !

As my Wife’s parents entered the house I was still restraining my Wife on the floor in the hallway, trying to prevent her continuing attacks, with my back to them. I knew they were there and shouted for them to hurry to which my Wife replied, “Fucking golden balls again. She will stick up for you.” Her mum immediately came to us and I stood back and went into the living room to get away from my Wife as she was still thrashing about trying to hit me. I picked up the house phone as I was contemplating phoning the Police as I could take no more. I was in utter agony after the three kicks to the groin. My head and shoulder were hurting where she had hit me.

I did not ring the police. I wish I had as my Wife then said she was going to ring and asked her mother for her mobile. She then went for me again and aimed another kick at my groin but her mother grabbed hold of her. I shouted at her to stop and that it should be me ringing the Police and not her. Her mother was struggling to keep hold of her and she shouted for help from her husband who grabbed my Wife around the waist who then aimed another kick at my groin. Does this sound like the action of a beaten woman? She was wild, aggressive and determined to attack me....read more

Natalie Esack : #DomesticViolence Ends In Murder.

A former detective was arrested yesterday for allegedly stabbing his hairdresser wife to death in her salon.
Natalie Esack, in her 30s, is thought to have left her husband of eight years Ivan Esack around a month ago, taking her pets with her as she moved out.
Staff at neighbouring businesses said they heard a terrifying scream ring out from her shop yesterday morning and saw two other hairdressers running into the street.

Violent death: Natalie Esack was found seriously injured at her salon after the brutal stabbing
Ivan Esack
Dramatic tale: Natalie Esack, left, was found covered in stab wounds at her salon this morning, an hour before police arrested her estranged husband Ivan, right
A knife was recovered from the scene in the High Street in Ashford, Kent, and her ex-partner, now a football agent, was later arrested at the couple’s former three-bedroomed home a few miles away.
Neighbours there said Mrs Esack had last been seen around a month ago, and had taken her pet cats and dog with her when she left.
Last night her 38-year-old husband was in custody and being questioned by detectives from Kent Police – the force he left two years ago to set himself up as a football agent.
A neighbour of the couple, who would not give her name, said: ‘I met them both at a Neighbourhood Watch street party last summer. She was quiet but he was more outgoing and talkative.
‘They seemed a pleasant couple. He told me he wanted to be more involved in politics and become a councillor.’
Charles Goodwin, 49, a mortgage broker who runs a business in an office three doors along from Esack Hair and Beauty, said he had waved to Mrs Esack earlier on the morning of her death – and had known the couple since arranging their joint mortgage eight years ago.
He said: ‘I heard a scream, a loud scream, this morning. I thought it was just kids messing about.
‘It was only when I saw three police cars and an ambulance pull up here that I knew something was wrong.

Shocking violence: Police launched an investigation after finding the seriously injured woman at the salon at 9.40am

‘The police put a cordon up around the shop and then all the girls who work there came out of the shop. The only person who didn’t come out was Natalie. It’s just so, so sad.’
He said Mrs Esack was a ‘really lovely bubbly character’. A former colleague working at Elegant Nails and Beauty, which is also thought to have been owned by Mr Esack, said staff were devastated.
She said: ‘You will not find a single person with a negative thing to say about her. She was the loveliest person. I have spent the whole morning in tears, we all have. It is just so tragic. We are all completely shocked by it. She was a local girl, we’re all just thinking about her family.’
Mrs Esack had several high-profile clients. They included Vic Reeves’ wife Nancy Sorrell, who lives with the comedian nearby in Charing, Kent, and Lesley Hogben, wife of television antique expert Michael Hogben.
Mrs Hogben said at the opening of Esack Hair and Beauty in 2008, in a local paper interview: ‘I have been a customer of Natalie’s in her previous salons so, no doubt, I will use this one too.’
Mrs Sorrell, who appeared in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2004, attended the opening of the salon in 2008.

Mr Esack is the owner and director of IAE Football Ltd which, according to its website, ‘is an agency representing professional footballers and coaches throughout the United Kingdom’.
Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who has been linked to a move to Premier League clubs including Manchester United, is pictured on IAE’s website – although Mr Esack is not the official agent for the player.

In a profile of himself, Mr Esack says he ‘spent several years working as a criminal investigator for one of the country’s largest police forces’.
It adds: ‘During my time as a police officer I encountered many different people from a whole range of interesting and diverse backgrounds.
‘However, my first love has always been football and it has been my ultimate dream to be involved in the football industry.
'In January 2010 I left the police force and embarked on the tough process of obtaining my players’ agent licence.
'I’m pleased to say that I was successful in passing the agents exam at the first attempt and obtained the necessary insurance and signed the code of conduct, which resulted in the Football Association issuing my licence.’
Mr Esack, originally from Middlesbrough, added: ‘Honesty and integrity is a vital ingredient in any working relationship and I can personally guarantee that I am a person that people can trust and confide in with confidentiality assured at all times.’
A Kent Police spokesman confirmed: ‘A 38-year-old Ashford man was arrested an hour later at an address in the town on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.’
A post-mortem examination is due to take place today.

John Wrighty A Victim Of Domestic Violence And Another Day In Court!

John explains....

Having attended the County Court this week in relation to my divorce and financial settlement etc, let me update you with the following news regarding how I have been shafted for all I have ever worked for. First and foremost, I have 3 beautiful children who live in a beautiful home which I paid for. Previously, I paid the mortgage, all utility bills, car loans, mobile phone bills, nearly the lot, except the council tax which my ex paid. Everything was in my name as she did not work for various reasons and, after the split, I carried on paying everything until losing my job some 7 months later. I continued to pay all the debts after that until now as my money has ran out. My wife even gave me the gas bill for the time I did not live there as it was in my name! A lesson now learnt.....read more

Domestic Violence : A Third Of Domestic Violence Victims Are Male

John Wrighty is a police officer, he is also a victim of domestic violence. John's story begins with 'The Incident'

'I think it is best to start describing the actual incident a few months before it happened as this will help you understand where my head was at, at the time of the incident. Many people ask me why I stayed with her. I don’t fully know. It may have been my kids. I did love her but she had a hold on me which I could not shake whatever she did to me, I just came back for more. I was isolated and exposed at the same time. She left me with no support that I could turn to or rely on....please go to John's blog and read his experience as a victim of domestic violence.

Fariba Amani Disappeared During A Cruise With Her Boyfriend - Reports Of A Rocky Relationship - Could She Be A Victim Of Domestic Violence On the High Seas ?

http://costaconcordiaimbroglioni.blogspot.com/2012/03/cruisefariba-amana-what-happened-to-her.html

The family of a B.C. woman who went missing last week from a cruise ship off the Florida coast is wondering why her boyfriend has yet to contact them.

Fariba Amani, 47, was on a two-day cruise from Florida to the Bahamas with her boyfriend Ramiz Golshani, 46, when she was went missing.

Golshani reportedly told authorities he last saw Amani at 1 a.m. on Wednesday when she went inside a gift shop and he left for a casino. When he woke the next morning, she was nowhere to be found.

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a high-profile search for Amani, but were unable to find anything. They scoured the ship and say they believe that Amani somehow fell overboard. U.S. search and rescue crews also searched the waters between Bahamas and Florida, covering an area of nearly 19,000 square kilometres, but failed to find her.

U.S. customs officials believe Fariba was on the ship when it left the Bahamas on Feb. 28 because passengers must swipe a card to board the ship.

Amani's sister, Saloumeh Amani, says even though the cruise returned to port days ago, her family still hasn't heard anything from Golshani.

"He has not reached out to us. He has not contacted us," Amani told CTV's Canada AM Wednesday from Vancouver.

"I don't think it would be very difficult for him to find a way to get a hold of us. The Iranian community here is not that large and everyone knows each other. If he really wanted to, he could have reached out to us days ago when he returned."

Golshani has declined to be interviewed; he told CTV British Columbia that he's too upset to speak to media.

Amani says while her family has been in touch with the FBI, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the RCMP, no one is revealing much about their investigation.

Amani says she last spoke to her sister on the day she left for the cruise.

"She was really excited to go. It was her first time on a cruise and she's a very adventurous person and wants to experience everything to the fullest. She was really looking forward to it," she says.

She also noted that her sister, a mother of two, had told her that her relationship with Golshani was rocky.

"She had taken this trip even though she did not think she was going to stay with him. She thought that by maybe taking this trip with him, things might get better, things might change, they might be able to solve some of their problems and if not, she would return and break up with him," she said.

In the family's search for answers, they found that Amani had spoken to a private investigator a few months ago in regards to a man she had been dating. She eventually chose not to hire the investigator.

Amani says as soon as she heard her sister was missing, she realized that no one from her family had ever met her sister's boyfriend.

"I don't know this guy, is what I kept thinking to myself. I've never met him before. He's never introduced himself to us. And I don't know anything about him," she said.

Amani says the family is coping as best they can but they realize there is little chance of seeing Fariba alive again.

"The first day was the most difficult and we all gathered together to grieve. But then, we still had hope then… Now, we are facing the reality that we may never see her again," she said, her voice trailing off.

A man was killed by his wife and daughter after announcing he was leaving them to start a new life, a court heard yesterday.

Donald Banfield mysteriously disappeared 11 years ago after he signed the contract on the sale of the family home.

The move would have effectively left his wife Shirley, 54, and daughter Lynette, 29, homeless  and scraping by, prosecutors said. And in selling the house, he had ‘signed his own death warrant’, it was alleged.

The 63-year-old, who had only just retired from his job as the manager of a bookmakers, vanished in May 2001.

His body has never been found, but yesterday his wife, now 64, and his 40-year-old daughter went on trial accused of murdering him.

They are alleged to have hatched a plot to kill Mr Banfield so they could raid his pension pot and claim his share of the family home,  netting a total of £123,000.

The Old Bailey heard how Mr Banfield had warned police and friends the pair were trying to kill him.

A day before his disappearance, he told his doctor he had woken in the middle of the night to find himself handcuffed to the bed, while his wife – a retired tax inspector – attempted to suffocate him with a plastic bag, the jury was told. He also allegedly complained he had been hit over the head in his sleep.

But his doctor merely referred him to a psychologist.

Mr Banfield also reported the attacks to police on May 8, the court heard. He told how he feared his wife would poison him. But he told officers not to do anything, prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC said.

He told jurors: ‘He was biding his time. Once the house was sold he was planning on making a new life for himself on his own and with the £60,000 he was expecting from the sale of the house.

‘Shirley, on the other hand, was facing a rather bleaker future. She was then aged 54 and on the verge of being abandoned without enough money to rehouse both herself and Lynette.

‘Further, without Don’s pension, or only a share of it, they would have less money to live on than before.

‘This, the prosecution suggest, must have caused tension in the household, such as to make Don Banfield fear for his own safety.

‘Sadly, his fears were well-founded and on May 11, when he signed the contract for the sale [of the house] he was unwittingly signing his own death warrant.’

His wife and daughter are alleged to have killed him some time that night or during the weekend that followed. Within days they had begun helping themselves to his pension and within a few weeks they had got their hands on Mr Banfield’s half-share of the profit from the sale of the home in Wealdstone, North-West London.

Neither woman reported him missing and it was not until May 19 that his friend Rod McIntosh went to the police.

During the initial hunt for Mr Banfield in 2001, his wife allegedly lied to officers compiling a photofit saying her husband had shaved off his moustache and that his hair had greyed.

Meanwhile, using forged documents, the pair were able to get their hands on pension payments of £29,000 from William Hill and a state pension totalling £34,000. After he vanished, the pair moved house a number of times before eventually settling in Canterbury in 2005.

The alleged plot began to unravel in 2008 when William Hill stopped paying the pension after becoming suspicious.

Detectives later dug up the garden and garage of Mr Banfield’s former home but they have never found his body. Mrs Banfield also allegedly told police her husband had turned up at their home in Kent in Christmas 2008 looking unwell and coughing up blood.

The two women have already pleaded guilty to two counts  of conspiracy to defraud. They deny murder. The trial continues.

Battered Women - A Short Clip Of What Men Who Claim To Love Their Women Do To Them !

Melissa Sue Platt: Has Somone Got Clean Away With Murder ?

Melissa Sue Platt

On October 8, 2008, when Texas resident, Marian Mims, was unable to reach her 31 year-old daughter, Melissa, in North Carolina where she lived with her boyfriend, Marian called authorities in Lenoir County to request that they check on her welfare. Authorities discovered Melissa in her Pink Hill home, wearing only a t-shirt, wrapped in a blanket on her bed, incapacitated, and suffering from numerous injuries. Melissa was rushed to a hospital and then air-lifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital’s trauma center in Greenville, NC.

Melissa’s injuries included bruises on her back, stomach, legs, arms, and behind her ear. Her left eye was blackened. Her jaw was broken on both the left and right sides of her face. She had a large mark on her neck that appeared to be a strangulation injury. Worse, she was suffering a brain bleed and a blood clot on the right side of her brain. Doctors immediately performed a craniotomy to try to relieve the pressure on her brain, inserting a tube into the right side of her head.

Marian, who had received a phone call from Melissa's boyfriend on October 3rd, to inform her that Melissa had fallen in the bathroom but was okay, realized that Melissa had laid in that bed in her home slowly dying for six long days. Her boyfriend did not seek medical attention for her. What he is believed to have done instead is wrap her in the blanket on the bed, feed her liquor through a straw, and leave her there alone while he went to and from work. Doctors informed the family that it was impossible that she could have suffered her injuries from the fall her boyfriend had described. The family was also told that they discovered old head injuries when they performed the craniotomy. Her boyfriend did not call, nor visit Melissa in the hospital......read more

A husband and wife died of an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night in their home.

Rebecca Ledbetter called police at 6:23 p.m. saying her husband had a gun. When police arrived to the home, both were found dead in the living area of the home.
Relatives of Rebecca Ledbetter had met with her earlier in the afternoon and have told authorities nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Family members also said the couple did not have a history of domestic violence.

#SusanPowell : Both Of Her Small Boys Had Suffered 'Chop Injuries' From An Axe - No One Can begin To Imagine Their Final Moments. R.I. P. Boys You Are With Your Mom Now.

Josh Powell's final, horrific act — killing his sons and himself in a fiery inferno — was tantamount to a confession to his wife's disappearance and presumed death, according to the Pierce County prosecuting attorney.

"If there was any doubt about who murdered Susan Powell, it's gone now," Mark Lindquist said.

On Sunday, when Powell attacked his two sons with a hatchet and then set fire to his Graham rental home, he had long been considered by Utah police to be a person of interest in his wife's December 2009 disappearance. But charges had never been brought against him despite questions over his claims that his wife went missing after he took his two sons camping in the middle of the night in freezing temperatures.

Despite Powell's death, police in West Valley City, Utah, say the investigation into Susan Powell's disappearance will continue.

Lindquist's reference to Susan Powell's presumed slaying isn't the first time authorities indicated they believe the missing mother of two was the victim of homicide. A search warrant obtained by The Associated Press through a public records request Tuesday shows that police in Utah were investigating three felonies in connection with the case: first-degree murder, kidnapping and obstructing a public servant.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill acknowledged for the first time that they believe Powell is likely dead, but said the case remains a missing persons probe for now...read more
