#Ohio Executes Reginald Brooks For The Murder Of His Three Sons
Reginald Brooks’ execution was carried out. His time of death was 2:04 p.m.
An Ohio man who killed his three sons after his wife served him with divorce papers was executed Tuesday afternoon, after exhausting his final appeals, according to officials.
Reginald Brooks, who has spent nearly three decades on death row, was convicted of shooting to death each of his three sons, aged 11, 15 and 17, while they were in their beds in East Cleveland in 1982. His wife had served him with divorce papers two days before the killings.
Defense lawyers have argued that Brooks was a paranoid schizophrenic and suffered from mental illness before he killed his sons. He was denied clemency by both the Ohio Parole Board and Kasich.
Brooks, 66, was the oldest person put to death since Ohio resumed executions in 1999...read more

#Florida Executes Oba Chandler- Chandler Murdered A Mother Along With Her Two Daughters
More than two decades after tossing an Ohio mother and her two daughters overboard from his boat to their horrific deaths, Oba Chandler finally paid the ultimate price.
http://deathpenaltynews.blogspot.com/2011/11/florida-executes-oba-chandler.html
The 65-year-old convicted triple murderer was put to death by lethal injection late this afternoon at Florida State Prison in Starke.
He died as he has spent the last 17 years in prison -- alone. Chandler had never had a visitor during his time on death row. And that didn't change today.
Hal Rogers, husband and father of the victims, sat in the front row of the small viewing room outside the death chamber. On either side of him sat relatives and prosecutors who tried the case and sent Chandler to death row. Of the 32 witnesses, only his attorney in the death-appeals process, Baya Harrison, was there to support him.
A couple of feet in front of Rogers, Chandler lay on a gurney, his arms strapped down and a sheet covering nearly his entire body. Only his face and massive arms were uncovered.
"Inmate Chandler, do you have any last statement you'd like to make," the team warden in the room asked him.
Without opening his eyes or looking at anyone, Chandler said simply, "No."
The drugs to end his life began flowing at 4:08. He was pronounced dead 17 minutes later.
Though Chandler had nothing to say to witnesses before he was executed, he did leave a written statement behind.
"Oba Chandler last statement. You are killing a innocent man today."
It is not known how long before the execution that the note was penned.
Earlier in the day, between 10 and 11 a.m., Chandler, the smooth-talking con man who lured three tourists onto his boat and then killed them more than two decades ago, ate his final meal...read more

#India : Woman Kills Herself And Daughters After Row With Husband
Ghaziabad, Nov 9: A 46-year-old woman poisoned her two daughters and consumed poison herself on Monday night, confirmed police.
Sunita Upadhyay allegedly mixed a lethal agricultural fumigant, aluminum phosphide in the dinner and gave it to her daughters. Rakesh Kumar Upadhyaya, the victim's husband and father works at Bhushan Steel. He was interrogated by the policemen.
"Upadhyaya said he came home from work around 7.30pm on Monday. He was not feeling well and also had a minor argument . He woke up around 5.30am and heard his wife and daughters vomiting. He rushed them to Sarvodaya Hospital, where they died soon after," said Jitendra Kumar Shahi, superintendent of police.
Dr Ashok Malik was quoted as saying, "If the patients had been brought in a little earlier they could have been saved. The poison had spread to almost all of their organs by the time they arrived."
"I really don't know what happened . There is discord in every family; we also had minor tiffs, but nothing more," said Upadhyaya.
Meanwhile, he admitted that his son had hung himself on Sept. 19, 2001. One of his daughter was working as a teacher and one was studying engineering.

#Spain : Domestic Violence In Spain
Spain now has one of the highest rates of divorce in Europe with 1 in 2.3 marriages ending in divorce. This equates to a marital break-up every 3.7 minutes. To make matters worse, Spain has a shocking domestic violence problem, which yet again came to a head when four women were killed by their partners on ‘Black Tuesday’ (26th February 2008). This brought to 17, the number of women murdered by their partners by the end of February 2008 setting that year firmly on target to exceed the horrors of previous years. Clearly, seismic changes are dangerously vibrating through Spanish society.
In fact, it is not surprising that tremendous pressures have been placed upon the old-fashioned, family values normally associated with Spain. Suppressed by the long, deeply conservative dictatorship of Franco (1939 – 1975), Spain remained in a time-lock throughout the heady decades of North European liberalism between the 1960s and 1980s. Flower power, the Pill, mobility of population and the sexual and social revolution of the First World largely bypassed Spain. Indeed, until 1981 it was not even possible to get divorced legally
Suddenly, in 1978, Spain established a secular constitution on lines similar to the rest of democratic northern Europe. This propelled the country into new uncertainties as previously unconscionable freedom and liberality were allowed. This was enhanced by unimaginable wealth as the country dramatically accelerated from its position as thirteenth biggest economy in the world in 1973 to its present position as eighth. All of a sudden, it was possible to get divorced, homosexuality was tolerated, incomes rose, personal expenditure increased and the equality of women became, at least in theory, acceptable...read more
